The Tellus women are getting out and about this summer and have different approaches to packing. We thought it would be fun to share with you where we’re going, the bags we use and what we pack.

Destination: New York City overnight work trip. The trip was originally for three days with one day free in the middle. I planned to walk as much of Central Park as I could in that one day so I needed walking shoes and exercise clothes. When the trip changed to just one meeting, I realized I could take everything I needed for an overnighter in one backpack. My Zirkel has been my go-to travel pack for three years now and it still looks new. I don’t even need a purse because I can stash my phone, wallet, lip stuff and essentials in all of Zirkel’s pockets.

Bag of choice: Zirkel Day Pack

Packing list:

  • Computer

  • Notebooks (3)

  • Zip pouch – cables, pens, earbuds

  • Kindle

  • Phone charger

  • Computer charger

  • Snacks

  • Small toiletries bag

  • Glasses case

Destination: I recently packed for a 10-day adventure through Norway with a quick 36-hour stopover in Iceland, where we soaked in the famous Blue Lagoon and explored the dramatic landscapes of the Golden Circle after completing a Backroads adventure with close friends celebrating a milestone birthday. From Bergen to Voss, Ulvik, Ullensvang and Os, our days were filled with hiking, biking, kayaking and experiencing some of the most breathtaking landscapes I’ve ever seen.

As our Backroads guides reminded us throughout the trip, “There’s no bad weather, only bad gear.” Traveling through Norway and Iceland meant long days in constantly changing conditions — cold mornings, wind, rain, mist, sunshine and everything in between — so my packing strategy was simple: layers, layers, layers.

Bag of choice: The best part? Everything packed neatly into myTellus 70L Duffel.

Packing list: My go-to pieces for the trip were three pairs of Sunset Ridge Performance Leggings, four Poudre Trail Long Sleeve Performance Shirts, on Satanka Cove Q-Zip Sun Shirt, my Front Range Fleece, and the undeniable MVP of the trip, the Longs Peak Waterproof Rain Shell, which absolutely saved me more than once. I also packed one pair of Trail Ridge Trek Pants, which quickly became a daily staple no matter what the day had in store.

After 12 days fully immersed in the elements, I was comfortable, prepared and never once felt limited by what I packed. When you spend full days outdoors in places like Norway and Iceland, your gear matters — and this trip was the perfect reminder that the right gear can make all the difference between enduring the adventure and truly enjoying it.
