X-Pac: The Ultimate Pack Fabric
To create our performance gear bags, we had to find a heavy-duty recycled fabric that met our high-quality standards. That lead us to X-Pac, a world leader known for manufacturing advanced, high-quality sailcloth in the United States. X-Pac’s RX laminates are manufactured in Putnam, Connecticut, using recycled polyester fibers sourced from PET bottles collected in the United States.
Remarkably durable with an impressive strength-to-weight ratio and 100% waterproof, X-Pac fabrics are designed for ultimate performance in rugged conditions. Exactly what we want for our bags.
We chose X-Pac RX36 fabric for our eco-friendly gear bags because it’s high-quality, performance-driven and made with recycled materials that have a lighter impact on the planet. FAQ
What is X-Pac fabric, and why do we use it in Tellus bags?
X-Pac is a high-performance, multi-layer laminate fabric originally developed for sailcloth. It combines a durable face fabric, a waterproof film and a signature X-shaped reinforcement layer for exceptional strength and structure. We use X-Pac in select Tellus bags because it’s lightweight, incredibly durable and built to handle the elements.
Are Tellus bags made with X-Pac waterproof?
X-Pac fabric itself is waterproof thanks to its laminated construction. That means the material won’t absorb water or become heavy in wet conditions. While no sewn product is 100% waterproof unless fully seam-sealed, our Tellus bags made with X-Pac are highly water-resistant and designed to keep your gear protected in everyday rain and unpredictable weather.
What makes Tellus bags different?
Performance fabric is just one piece of the story. Tellus bags are thoughtfully designed for real-life movement — clean lines, functional storage and durable construction that transitions seamlessly from trail to town. And like everything we make, 100% of our net profits support environmental conservation and restoration. When you carry a Tellus bag, you’re carrying purpose, too.
