More: The Colorado Coralition is a group of students from Polaris Expeditionary Learning School in Fort Collins who are working to stem the tide of coral decline. Sixteen students in 7^th – 10^th grade have earned their Junior Open Water diver certification, researched the loss of coral reefs and coral restoration efforts, and prepared for a March trip to the Florida Keys to partner with the Coral Restoration Foundation. Led by their teacher Dr. Matt Strand, these students will use their diving skills as they work side-by-side with marine biologists at Carsyfort Reef, a site designated as part of NOAA’s Mission: Iconic Reefs, to engage in real-world conservation at the bottom of the ocean.
